Waratahs stars return for trial against Chiefs

Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson has named an experienced side to play the Chiefs in a trial match in New Zealand tomorrow. Wallabies Nick Phipps and Kurtley Beale will start in the halves for the 2014 champions, alongside young gun Dave Horwitz who has retained the No.12 jersey for the second straight week. Rob Horne will also play his first match of 2016, with Matt Carraro, Reece Robinson and Zac Guildford making up the back three. In the forwards, Michael Hooper, Dean Mumm and Tatafu Polota-Nau have been added to the squad, with Jack Dempsey and Brad Wilkin set to start in the backrow following the withdrawals of Dave Dennis and Jed Holloway through concussion. Gibson said he was keen to trial some new combinations against quality opposition. “Away games are obviously a bit tougher, but the trip to New Zealand will only stand us in good stead. “Being in each other’s company for 10 days touring together will also provide a good opportunity to grow the bonds between us.” T
