Sarel Pretorius to play Currie cup between Waratah Seasons.By Terry Smith. Wednesday, February 15.
At the Waratahs Super Rugby Season Launch today, zip zip man Sarel Pretorius said he will split his two seasons with the Waratahs by rushing home to South Africa for a stint in the Currie Cup.
Pretorius: "the Waratahs have the firepower to win the tournament."
And as if that isn’t enough, wife Nicola will give birth to their first child – a boy – in three months.
Pretorius, who topped last year’s Super Rugby try-scorers while playing for the Cheetahs, a remarkable effort for a halfback, has settled happily into his new surroundings at Neutral Bay and is adamant the Waratahs have the firepower to win the tournament.
His blazing speed has won him selection in the Emerging Springboks and South African Sevens,
“A scrum-half must be an explosive runner,” he says. “The first five and ten metres are the important ones.”
