Queensland Reds recruit suffers season ending injury

Queensland Reds recruit Caleb Timu has suffered a season ending knee injury during training at Ballymore Stadium this week. The unfortunate incident occurred during a non-contact session on Wednesday while Timu was attempting to step a defender. Scans later confirmed the 22-year-old had ruptured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament. Timu, a former Australian Schoolboys Rugby player and Broncos Under 20s standout, joined the Reds two weeks ago after receiving a release from the NRL to play Super Rugby until the end of 2017. He will undergo a knee reconstruction next week before beginning rehabilitation at Ballymore. He is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of 2016.
